2019 NJ Labor Management East Coast Institute

The New Jersey Public School Labor Management Collaborative is proud to announce its first East Coast Institute where we will share our work and experience in establishing Union-Management Partnerships and greater educator collaboration in 17 New Jersey public school districts, as well as our research on the benefits to students, teachers and administrators. This two-day event will take place on June 26 - 27, 2019 from 9 to 3 at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick - 2 Albany St, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.  Day 1 (June 26) will be focused on the needs of new districts and will showcase the work that is happening in our network of schools and districts. We will have a series of presentations by districts covering their experiences establishing Union-Management Partnerships, solving problems together, resolving conflict and establishing collaborative school cultures.   Simultaneous sessions will also be conducted by the NJEA, NJSBA, NJASA and NJPSA so union leaders and members, principals, superintendents, and board members can each attend role-alike sessions. Ray Gaer, President of the ABC Federation of Teachers and Dr. Mary Sieu, Superintendent of the ABC Unified School District that has had a union-management partnership since the early 1990s will be discussing how they have sustained collaboration over such a long time-period.  Day 2 (June 27) will be our Annual Spring Inter-District Learning Network Meeting for the 17 districts currently in our network. However, participants from Day 1 of the East Coast Institute (June 26) are invited to attend our Inter-District Learning Network on June 27 and participate in this meeting to learn from districts and schools that have been doing this collaborative work for some time. This will give you an additional opportunity to ask questions of leaders from other districts and schools. Topics will include the integration of parents (PTA/PTO organizations), students, and school boards into our collaborative work. There is no cost to your district for this meeting regardless of how many people attend.  All of our previous conferences have filled to capacity so please respond to me as soon as possible regarding how many will be coming from your district so we can get your team registered, order food and prepare materials. If individuals from your district are attending both days they can get rooms at the Hyatt for a discounted rate. Here is the link with the Group Code: The deadline for room reservations is: Friday, June 21st Finally, please feel free to share this invitation with anyone in your collaborative cohort who you believe may wish to attend this event.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone there.  When confirming your attendance, please indicate whether you will be attending Day 1, Day 2, or BOTH.
